All this technology is making us antisocial. [via]
I’ve seen this multiple times now. Can I point something out though? The problem with technology isn’t that it’s keeping us from making connections. The problem is it is cheapening the connections we are making while we are supposed to be making them.
Family events, people are staring at their phones rather than playing games and talking. As if to say, “What is on my phone is more important than you right now”. In the picture, this is how individual people are spending leisure time. This is not time set specifically aside to socialize. It would be different if they were at a convention or some exciting event, or even at the dinner table. That’s where technology is sapping at our sociability.
It’s fine to Google something, it’s like looking something up in a book when someone asks. It’s fine to show someone a funny message now and then. Just don’t let technology rule your social time. And for goodness sake, don’t act like your phone is your lifeblood.
